LEDs- Traffic Lights
We have been talking in the technology class about LEDs. We thougt it was an interesting device used in very common machines or instruments, such as telephones, televisions or traffic lights.
We will fists give you a basic description of what are LEDs and then we will give you an example of its use in traffic lights.
LED technology is simple. An electric current passes through a LED, electrons in that current transform some of their energy into visible light. LEDs use a small fraction of the power that incandescent bulbs require and are even more efficient than fluorescent lights. LEDs produce light cheaply, efficiently, and for extended periods of time.
LEDs are used in traffic lights because they save energy and reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide. We have found a video which describes very well the function of LEDs in traffic lights

Talking Windows
Today we are going to talk about a new method of publicity which is revolutionizing the whole Europe. This technical device is called, Talking Windows. Tired people often rest their heads on the windows of busses and trains. They do not expect other thing but resting when suddenly, a voice inside their heads starts talking to them. This is because of a small technical device attached to the public transport windows. This special transmitter sends out inaudible high frequency vibrations which the brain transforms into sounds. This technology is called "Bone Conduction" The good thing about this is that it can be use by deaf people, the military or it may tell you that the next stop is yours but it also have some disadvantages, it could make you feel crazy because nobody except you hears the voice or because it can tell you to do something and unfortunately, you will do it. Your plans or the way you shop, for example, will change completely.
In these videos you can see how the talking windows work, additionally there are some ideas about how to relax by avoiding listening to these voices:

Just starting!
Hi everyone!
We are two students from IES Jaime Ferran. Our names are Carlota and Maria. We have created this blog for our technology class mainly because our teacher Marga told us. We will post technology facts, but also some things that are not strictly related with technology. Some of our hobbies are horse ridding, gymnastics, athletism, music and, obviously, shopping.
